just lay a concrete pad, and set the pavers on top...the extra materials cost far out weigh the time leveling with a toothbrush, and the concrete helps against erosion and compaction problems with most soils...

Thanks for clearing that up njc! Being mistaken for Aussies never really goes down that well. However, there are a few grounds for confusion here. The show is a Kiwi show, the presenter is a Kiwi, but the guy doing the work is a transplanted Aussie who saw the light and crossed the ditch.
