@robdmhaze - just as a comfortable, safety precaution I use a stainless steel cylinder welded on a flat stainless platform. Fill cylinder halfway with beer, wine, fruit juice add spices like rosemary, garlic, etc. Cleaner & safer.

you always need a couple cans of beer!
robdmhaze (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
well if you were scared off the paint, just cook the can for about 30 min on a high heat on the BBQ, Direct on grill, the paint usually is gone by the end. Thats what i do. then i just clean off can and use with bird. You can then clean can off and use again. Anyways the temp inside the bird does not get hot enough to release the paint..

low temp cooking "beer can" chicken has not been shown to harm anyone, except the damn drunk chicken. Ya'll better stick with Mickey D's billy....much safer eatin', eh dude?....rofl
